About David Montague
I am a professional recruitment expert within the UK and International Recruitment & HR Industry; I am also an OfQual accredited teacher in the adult learning sector. I specialise in writing qualifications, teaching and training for the UK recruitment industry, covering a number of topics but specialising in Employment & Contract Law. I am also qualified in HR Practice and work with a number of organisations on specific projects such as the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS), National Occupational Standards (NOS) Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate (EAS), Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) and British Standards Institution (BSI) to work in collaboration with a number of stakeholders to achieve objectives in relation to projects for the recruitment industry.

I have worked within the Recruitment & HR Industry for more than a decade, gaining a wealth of skills and experience from Recruitment Agency through to RPO/MSP/Vendor. I started my own Business Management Consultancy in 2008 where I supply a number of service provisions to a portfolio of clients from Mentoring through to Employment Law Advice, from Accreditation Preparation through to HR Support through to NED Services, from HR Support through to Training and Tutoring. I am also a Lecturer in Business Management Degrees and Level 3 and Level 5 CIPD Human Recourse Management at the University of Oxford and Aylesbury College.

I am currently a member of the Institute of Recruiters and the Institute for Learning and have completed the Ethics Champion course delivered by the Institute of Recruiter and Institute of Business Ethics. I have also now successfully obtained PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector).

More recently, I have worked actively and closely with the IOR since prior to its conception and taking more of back seat over the more immediate future. Working closely with the IOR has been a distinct pleasure and something, which I personally feel to be vitally important for the continued success of the Recruitment & HR Industry. I now work on behalf of the IOR in a number of areas including Tutoring for the IOR Academy.

I also hold a Public Office as a School Vice Chair of Governors in High Wycombe where I head their Leadership and Management Committee.

Started with company as Consultant in general branch then moved on to Key Contracts for an automotive manufacturer contract turning over in excess of £21mil responsible for 1500 staff before going on to manage an aviation manufacturer contract turning over in excess of £25mil where I was responsible for a number of contracts which required me to spend 30% of my time abroad. I was also responsible for:
To manage a team of 5 Consultants and 2 Team Leaders. To manage 2nd tier suppliers and contractor. To manage and control budgets for this £25milion contract. Negotiate terms of business for 2nd Tier suppliers. Negotiate service agreements between company and clients. Employee Relations & HR Management. Operation reports for board & Financial reports for board. Liaising with clients on daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis. Pro-actively promote company business. Increase revenue and ultimately GP of portfolio via business development. Compiling and distribution of management reports. Ensuring that SLA’s are met and where possible increased. Implementation of improved services (i.e. e-billing etc.). Design & Management of HR Management Information & Analysis. Successful achievement of the AS9100 accreditation (scored 880 out of 880 in June 2008).
Key Achievements:
Achieved AS9000 (aviation standard for ISO) accreditation for the company. Designed & implemented monthly staff newsletter. Designed, implemented & run staff “Associate of The Month” award scheme. Increased turnover through business development. Decreased the amount spent on outsourcing by 42%. Cleared historic billing worth over £1.2million with clients.Managed HR Consultants and responsible for design and implementation of documents, policies’ and procedures across contracts. In 2008 whilst with Manpower Managed and implemented change solutions for 2nd Tier Suppliers reducing usage from 21-suppliers to 6-suppliers whilst increasing profitability for Manpower and increasing service levels for the client.
